The Internet is a 24 hour advertising medium that allows me to promote my property to a large, targeted audience of potential buyers. Something that I have previously found with traditional estate agents is the lack of effort and thought put into their marketing. An example of this was a previous residential development that was repeatedly referred to in the agents ads as a 'unit' and not a 'house', despite repeated calls requesting this to be corrected, the changes were never made by the agent. We eventually sold the house privately. Private selling allows the vendor to remain in control of all the finer details of marketing the property.

"I sold my flat privately and the process was perfectly simple and there was absolutely no need for an estate agent. Once you have found an interested buyer and have agreed a price, the surveyor and the solicitors will work out the details, as in any normal sale.
I can thoroughly recommend the private sale route - it means you do away with the bureaucracy (the estate agent) that generally slows down communication and the process in general but more importantly you don't then have to give them a huge slice of your money for very little work.
Buying and selling property today is expensive enough. The private sale is one way to cut down at least one of these costs."
